All the essential skills for scrambling wrapped up into a two-day course so that you can safely go scrambling independently following the completion of the course. Covering equipment, route choice, route finding, scrambling grades, harnesses, ropework, natural anchors, placing gear to protect and building belays. This scrambling course is run as two 7-hour sessions in the Lake District and is ideally suited to anyone with some hill walking experience or an experienced mountaineer looking to ensure that their skills and procedures are at the very best level possible.

A comprehensive course including everything in the two-day scrambling course but with the additional day we can take on a classic Lake District scramble, applying everything you will have learnt in the two days prior. This is a complete scrambling course providing you with the confidence to have a real adventure whilst scrambling. The three 7-hour sessions will focus on the required scrambling skills over the first two days, with the third day focused on completing a classic Lake District scramble. Some hill walking experience and fitness to operate on the mountains for 3 consecutive days will ensure you get the very most out of the course.

Select from the hand-picked classic Lake District scrambles for a guided day of scrambling. With the emphasis on having the very best day possible, Climb GB will guide you up the route of your choice allowing you to focus on just enjoying the experience. The scrambles on offer are Intake Ridge and Attic Cave in Combe Gill, Cam Crag Ridge in Langstrath, Stepped Ridge and Central Buttress on Browncove Crags, Sharp Edge and Hall’s Fell Ridge on Blencathra, and Striding Edge and Swirral Edge on Helvellyn. A good level of hill walking fitness will ensure you have a fantastic day, but no previous scrambling experience is required.

Guided days out scrambling on some of the best scrambling Scotland has to offer. The 2-day course length allows us to complete one classic scramble each day ensuring you get the very most from your experience. The scrambles on offer are Curved Ridge on Buachaille Etive Mor and Dorsal Arete on Stob Coire nan Lochan in Glencoe, Carn Mor Dearg (CMD Arete) and Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis. You should have some prior experience of hill walking, but no technical knowledge of scrambling is required prior to the course.

Scrambling and mountaineering courses are run on any date suitable for yourself. Although the Classic Scottish Scrambles courses are best run between April and October to avoid heavy snow.

The map below shows the venues in the Lake District, Glencoe and Fort William that Climb GB uses for scrambling and mountaineering courses (Orange markers) and easy to find meeting places (Blue markers). Many of these locations are within easy travelling distance of major towns and cities, e.g. Carlisle and Penrith in Cumbria for sessions in the Lake District and Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and Edinburgh are all less than a 3-hour drive for sessions in Glencoe for classic Scottish scrambles courses. However free pick up and drop off is also available from Hexham train station to assist you in getting to any of these destinations and to help reduce the environmental impact of travel.
